Gary Teichmann is Executive Chairman of the Teichmann Group.
After studying at Cedara college, Gary had a lengthy rugby career, during which time he played for the Sharks, Kwa-Zulu Natal’s provincial rugby team from 1991 to 1999. During this time Gary also played for the Springboks, South Africa’s national team from 1995 to 1999 and was Captain of the side for most of that time. Gary went on to play rugby in Wales for Newport from 1999 to 2001.
In 1995, whilst still playing rugby, Gary co-founded Teichmann Plant Hire along with James te Riele and Wayne James. After retiring from the rugby field, Gary was involved in the management of all operations of the business as Managing Director.
Gary took up the position of CEO to the Sharks from 2016 to 2019 remaining involved in the Teichmann Group at an executive level and returned to the Teichmann Group in a full-time capacity, as Executive Chairman in 2019.
